Meet the people behind Plant A Tree Today (PATT) Foundation.
Founder & Chief Executive
Andy is originally from Hull in the north of England but has lived and worked overseas for many years, initially in Sri Lanka and now Thailand. He comes from a background in international management for 15 years and forestry for the last eight. He started PATT to address the problem of deforestation, particularly within Asia.
Former Assistant Bank Manager at the Bank of Malawi, Val is a well-respected member of British society as well as her community where she lives in Malawi. She lives life to the fullest, fundraising for worthy causes and having adventures whenever possible.
John Kennedy co-founded the Coral Portfolio fund platform in 2008 domiciled and regulated in Luxembourg . John is managing director of Coral S.à.r.l., the Funds’ Manager, whose first offering, the Coral Student Portfolio, launched in March 2009.
John was a founder at the Brandeaux Group where he established and developed their global institutional client base from inception in 1996 until 2007. Prior to that, John was based for many years in the City of London holding senior roles with UK Life Assurance companies .
Michael has held executive director positions within both the corporate and voluntary sectors. He is a former Chair of both The Association of Fundraising Consultants UK, and The Institute of Fundraising-Midlands UK. He is a Trustee of two UK Charities and Vice Chair of house builders MillBay Homes. Michael is pleased to be involved with Plant a Tree, in a fundraising role.
Charlotte Whalley was born in Thailand and although educated overseas, speaks fluent Thai and considers Thailand home. She has always been passionate about the environment, human rights and more recently micro-finance and social business. Because of all this Charlotte was delighted to become a director of the Thai PATT Foundation.
Saranya, originally from Thailand, has worked as a management consultant and has long been interested in the environment with a particular emphasis on the educational aspects of PATT’s work. She consistently supports PATT’s drive to educate children at a young age to understand the benefits of conservation and the regeneration of Thailand’s natural assets. Her other interests include sailing, travelling and cooking.
Marisa Narula, born in Thailand and brought up in Darjeeling, India, ran the first holistic business in Bangkok for 6 years and counselled young and mature adults in life issues, as well as ran corporate training classes for companies around the country. She now runs her family’s pharmaceutical company and also finds the time to stand as trustee on the PATT Board in Thailand.
Kwan was born in Chanthaburi, Thailand and graduated from Chulalongkorn University with a B.Sc in Environmental Science and M.Sc. in Environmental Management. Kwan has worked at PATT since November 2007. On a more personal note, she loves all things Hello Kitty and Disney, and talking on the phone with friends.
Sue, a Thai national from Chiang Mai, is responsible for programmes and initiatives relating to Environmental Education events with PATT. She graduated from Chiang Mai University with B.Sc. in Zoology and M.Sc. in Environmental Science. Sue gained extensive experience in forest restoration and education works for more than 10 years. She loves nature and hopes to work with lots of people to make the world a better place! (Apart from that, she loves football and supports secretariat duties for Chelsea FC Official Supporters in Thailand as volunteering.)
Rungrueng Lengwilas (Deuay)
Deuay is responsible for the successful day to day running of the nursery, managing activities involving the nursery and forest restoration, and managing the relationship with local stakeholders. He is a Sap Tai local, an experienced nature guide, knowledgeable in forest restoration, and passionate about environmental conservation.
Khwan Tipmorn (Koh)
Koh is responsible for providing support to the nursery manager including seedling production and forest restoration. He is also a Sap Tai local with substantial knowledge of the flora and fauna specific to the area.
Vash is PATT India’s Country Manager. He completed the world’s first MBA in Strategic Carbon Management from the UK and returned back to India where people need him more. He also works as General Manager for Global Carbon Exchange in India, a Carbon/Energy consultancy company headquartered in South Africa.
Shital has completed her B.E in Computer Engineering at Mumbai University. She has three years experience in IT management, as well as her MBA in Business Administration from the UK. Four years as a senior manager in UK has helped her handle many types of projects. Shital is passionate about the environment and is interested in her role being part of Strategic Carbon Management. PATT has given her an opportunity to be a part of environmental related issues and projects, allowing her to use her experience in the field. She plays a large role in PATT India, handling multiple projects at a time.
