700 trees planted in Khao Yai on Saturday 21st Aug 2010

The LUSH – Bangkok’s Green Night Out event, held on Friday 29th of January at Dream2 Hotel, raised 52’500 THB enabled Plant A Tree Today ( PATT ) Foundation to plant and look after 700 trees in the Khao Yai National Park on a surface equivalent 2 rai equivalent 3,200 square metres. The trees where planted to support reforestation, climate change mitigation, and the up-keeping of biodiversity in the area. The tree planting project follow-up trip was held on the 21st August 2010.

Campaign launched by Freeland Foundation, Asean Wildlife Enforcement Network, Thai Goverment and United States Agency for International Development urging Commuters in Bangkok’s Skytrain System creating awareness on how their lives depends on nature.

About 70,000 train commuters daily will experience the train’s exterior featuring a jigsaw puzzle depicting a man and woman in a jungle background as one of its pieces. While interior posters describe how animals help maintaining World’s ecological balance and illegal wildlife trade as well as illicit logging of trees upsetting ECOLOGICAL Balance.

Day One
Young ECO-Warriors went on a journey to Bangkuntien School, learning about Mangroove Trees and its usage. First task was to try their hands on dyes from Mangroove Seeds. They dye white handkerchiefs with batiks prints as their creative little minds went wild with explicit designs and patterns.
Next Activity, little Eco-Warriors learnt about making Preserved Duck Eggs from chicken manure.
Day Two
ECO-Warriors today learnt about Animals at the Kho Kiew Open Zoo, Chonburi.
Day Three
ECO-Warriors putting all they have learnt at a local Village Re-Forestation Programme at Prah Padaeng, Songkanong.
Day Four
A day where ECO-Warriors gets to learn about Insects and Birds at Suan Rotfai Park, Jatuchak. Activities included a Tour to the Butterfly Park and Leisure Cycling.
Day Five
ECO-Warriors gets all muddy and starts planting 80 Mangroove Tree Saplings at Bangpu Nature Education Centre.

ECO Kids Camp 21st – 25th

Day One 21st June 2010

Little ECO Stars started the day with learning about the SEA CREATUREs and how Man interference effects them indirectly. Then Little ECO Stars set-off to see the beauty of SEA CREATURES from Siam Ocean World. Knowledge of how fishes and mammals revolves around ECO-System.

Day Two 22nd June 2010

More learning about the Planets and Universe as Little ECO Stars lift off to Planetarium seeking answers on how OZone effects the climate of Mother Earth.

Day Three 23rd June 2010

Our ECO Stars armed with knowledge about the Water and Sky elements, they set off enthusiasitically planting Red Mangroves Saplings at Prah Padaeng, Song Kanong, Samut Prakan.

Day Four 24th June 2010

After a long hot day spend at Prah PaDaeng, Songkanong, Samut Prakan, Little ECO Stars were off to have some Rest &
Relax day, watching beautiful butterflies, cycling, Bird Spotting and playing some Team Building Games at Suan Rotfai Park.

Final Day Five 25th June 2010

Little ECO Stars sets off to the Bangpu Nature Recreation Centre, Samut Prakan. It was a day of fun filled activity learning about Mangroves trees and scrubs that protects mainland from erosion, storm surge specially during hurricanes and tsunamis) that grow on saline coastal areas. As little ECO Observers, they seek out plants, trees, little sea creatures that survives in the mangroves as its massive roots systems is efficient at dissapating wave energy.

Crown Goes Green!

Crown Worldwide Limited joined the Khao Yai Forest Restoration Project with PATT. On Friday, 30th April 2010, Crown Worldwide visited PATT Nursery at Khao Yai and joined our nursery activities: pricking out and potting out of seedlings. After that, they went to save the world (and get wet) by planting 100 trees of 12 native tree species in Khao Yai National Park.

Earth Day at Sap Tai

On 22nd April, Sap Tai school kids joined PATT to celebrate the Earth Day event. The activities started with collecting rubbish along the road and then we planted 15 kinds of native trees in Khao Yai National Park.

The tree planting season is coming!

The tree planting season in Khao Yai will start in mid April. There are around 9,000 seedlings of 34 native species in our nursery now. The first lot of this year will be planted for the Earth Day event in April.

Students from Grade 3 and 4, Baan Sap Tai School, visited PATT Nursery to learn about trees and grow their own seedlings to plant in Khao Yai  National Park. As now is the dry season in Thailand our tree planting activities are on hold until the start of the next rainy season. But all the other activities at the PATT Sap Tai nursery will continue, such as the education programme working in conjunction with a local school – Baan Sap Tai School. The students learnt about trees and forests and also joined the nursery activities which included seed sowing, pricking out and potting of seedlings.
