A firm teaching people how to drive safely on Britain’s roads is making national companies green with envy after linking up with a charity that reforests the planet. Eco-drivers are the first environmentally-friendly learning school in East Yorkshire that drives home eco-friendly driving techniques and run low emission cars.Today they announced they would be helping to protect the environment by planting a tree every time someone passes a UK driving test with them. A spokesman for the company said they were “delighted” to be working with the PATT Foundation (Plant a Tree Today) to help deliver its global vision of tackling climate change. He said: “We hope Eco-drivers will help people follow a greener route to achieving their licence – as well as contribute to international reforestation programmes.”

He explained that Eco-drivers is now working with PATT UK to investigate expanding its green scheme – looking at how the company can further offset its carbon footprint. “Our instructors and cars travel thousands of miles each year,” he said. “Although our students plant a tree to help put something back, we believe as a company we also have a social responsibility to minimise our impact. So we are presently reviewing how we can help improving our carbon offsetting to ensure all of our business practices help improve the environment in some way.” To find out more about Eco-drivers, please visit www.eco-drivers.co.uk.
